Gol Gumbaz

Hello Travelers,

We had read about Gol Gumbaz and Adil Shahi dynasty in school but never had an opportunity of visiting until one day we decided to visit on a personal trip to Bijapur. We have visited Bijapur twice.

Gol Gumbaz is located in the city of Bijapur in Karnataka. It is approx 540 Kms from Bangalore.

The ruler who built the Gol Gumbaz tried to imitate the Taj Mahal but without the 4 minars. It is the resting place of the ruler. Don't miss going up to the Whispering Gallery, where even the slightest sound can be heard. People visit this place and shout to hear it echo 7 times. Sad they don't see grave below and treat this is a place to have fun.

Advisable to spend at least 2 Hours in the evening. It is a huge complex.

Mahabalipuram

Hello Travelers,

Mahabalipuram is a historical place related to Pallavas which should be on your list. We have visited Mahabalipuram a couple of times so I will post pics from earlier trips also.

It is located at a distance of  330 Kms from Bangalore. Takes around 6 hours to reach.

The most common tourist spots are: Pancha Rathas, Cave temples, Light house, Shore Temple, Krishna's Butter ball, Maritime Museum, Sculpture Museum, Beach, Crocodile Bank etc.,

We need at least 2 days to explore. I suggest you take an accommodation near to Bus stand so that you can explore by foot, take rest under a tree or monument, drink tender coconut, eat Ice cream and start again.
