Gol Gumbaz

Hello Travelers,

We had read about Gol Gumbaz and Adil Shahi dynasty in school but never had an opportunity of visiting until one day we decided to visit on a personal trip to Bijapur. We have visited Bijapur twice.

Gol Gumbaz is located in the city of Bijapur in Karnataka. It is approx 540 Kms from Bangalore.

The ruler who built the Gol Gumbaz tried to imitate the Taj Mahal but without the 4 minars. It is the resting place of the ruler. Don't miss going up to the Whispering Gallery, where even the slightest sound can be heard. People visit this place and shout to hear it echo 7 times. Sad they don't see grave below and treat this is a place to have fun.

Advisable to spend at least 2 Hours in the evening. It is a huge complex.

Halebeedu

Hello Travelers,

Belur was the first capital of Hoysala Kingdom. They shifted their capital to present day Halebeedu later on. It was called as Dwarasamudra in those days. Halebeedu is situated in the Haasan district of Karnataka. It is approx 230 Kms from Bangalore and 16 Kms from Belur.

Another famous temple of Hoysaleshwara is in Halebeedu town. The architecture and intricate carving of Idols are similar to ones in Belur.

So after visiting Belavadi we proceeded towards Halebeedu. Please spend at least 1-2 hours.
